Before ordering anything online, I wanted to see what it was like to use my iPad2 with an Bluetooth keyboard. I bought a Zagg Messenger Universal keyboard at Target as a test. It paired fine and worked fine. I didn’t like it mainly because it was a separate keyboard and I was really looking for a keyboard\/hard case for my iPad.<\/p>\n

I looked on-line and found a ZaggFolio unit at TechRabbit and ordered a “Certified Pre-Owned” keyboard:<\/p>\n

When I powered it on and pressed the Connect button, my iPad found it. I followed the instructions for pairing: I selected the Zagg keyboard on my iPad’s bluetooth list and a pop-up told me to enter a 4 digit code on the Zagg keyboard and hit Enter. About 30 seconds later, I got a “Pairing Unsuccessful” pop-up.<\/p>\n

Pairing Unsuccessful \u2013 Make sure the \u201cZAGG Keyboard\u201d is turned on, in range and is ready to pair. <\/b><\/p>\n

Well, of course it’s on, in range and ready to pair, otherwise the iPad wouldn’t be seeing it. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

BTW, if I simply wait 30 seconds after tapping the Zagg Keyboard in the list – without entering the code – I get the same message. It’s like the iPad knows it’s there via the “connect” button but isn’t really listening to the keyboard. I then tried the keyboard on another iPad2 and it did the same thing.<\/p>\n

Thinking it might be defective, I returned it to TechRabbit and upgraded to a “Factory Refurbished” unit. Unfortunately, it does the same thing. I get the same Pairing Unsuccessful message on both iPads.<\/p>\n

I should note that both iPads are running IOS 7.1.2, so they are kind of old, but the keyboard doesn’t say anything about IOS version restrictions. In addition, as mentioned earlier, the Zagg Messenger Universal keyboard worked fine.<\/p>\n

Can anyone tell me why this model keyboard won’t talk to either of my iPad2’s? Could it be an IOS issue? Is there any thing I can do to test it?<\/p>\n
