Due to me not having the origional boot disk, I have made boot disks (or rather someone else has), by placing the necessary files onto a floppy disk.I know that there is nothing wrong with the FDD itself, I have cleaned it and tested it using a boot loader that displays the message ‘ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ’.<br \/>\nOnce the laptop has loaded its memory it displays the message, ‘place system disk in drive. Press any key when ready’.<br \/>\nI have also tried using a MS-DOS 3.3 boot disk from allbootdisks.com, (an automatic boot disk which makes the FD a boot disk without your input), which is also unable to boot the laptop. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do to get the laptop to boot up?<br \/>\nAfter putting a boot disk in it will usually do nothing, display the message again, say ‘Non-bootdisk or disk error’, or the _ will keep blinking.<br \/>\nI have tried a cold boot but the _ will just blink at the top of the screen after the Upper A disk in use light comes on and goes off. Could I be missing necessay system files? If so, where do I aquire them?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"iawp_total_views":4},"question-category":[60],"question_tags":[],"class_list":["post-7685","question","type-question","status-publish","hentry","question-category-dos"],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question\/7685","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/question"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=7685"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7685"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"question-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question-category?post=7685"},{"taxonomy":"question_tags","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question_tags?post=7685"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
