I re-installed Windows on the drive about a month ago when I bought a new Mobo and CPU. I can’t remember the exact amount on the drive a few days ago, but it’s usually around 70 Gb max. Before re-installing windows the drive had about 40Gb free, and that was a years worth of accumulated programs. I have even less installed on it now.

The strange thing is that today I noticed the drive was in the red zone when I saw it in Windows Explorer My Computer. It shows only 10Gb free of a possible 111Gb. This makes no sense to me. I opened the drive in an explorer window, highlighted all files and folders, and right clicked to check properties. It shows only 32 Gb – which is possibly a realistic amount considering the fresh install a month ago. I have two other HDD’s which contain media and games – none of my games are installed on the C drive. Here is a screenshot of the contents of the C drive as they appear in the explorer Window.

http://oi61.tinypic.com/14d25tw.jpg

Like I say, right clicking those files and folders and checking properties shows only 32Gb. I emptied the recycle bin which contained 12Gb of material and that didn’t change the available space on the drive. Neither did running disk cleanup.

So I’m totally stumped as to why it’s showing full. What else could account for the drive showing so full?

[47

post-7417","question","type-question","status-publish","hentry","question-category-hardware
["GET
