When the computer is turned on, the fans start running at full speed, but the POST screen does appear. Shortly thereafter, a screen comes up with this message:<br \/>\n&#8220;Alert! Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [0085]. For help in resolving this problem, please note this checkpoint and contact Dell Technical Support.&#8221;<br \/>\nBelow that there are the messages &#8220;Keyboard Failure&#8221; and &#8220;CMOS Checksum error.&#8221; It prompts to press F1 to continue, F2 to enter setup, but this is where the problem is. The keyboard is completely unresponsive. I can&#8217;t do anything except press the power button and shut down the machine. I&#8217;ve tried different brands of keyboards, different USB ports (front and back, there are no PS\/2 ports), and still nothing.
