Namely, that often when I click on a cell in excel, that cell and several cells below it will be selected (rather than just the cell I’m clicking on). The previous post had no replies posted, so I don’t know what causes it or how to solve it.

One thing that I have noticed is that if I click super-fast, I only select one cell. If my clicks are longer (a longer fraction of a second), it will select cells in multiple rows. What it looks like is happening from my experimentation, is that Excel is interpreting my click as a multi-column select, and for some reason is using a point x pixels down as the end of the drag. Thus, multiple rows are selected. If the row is taller and I click near the top of the cell, I only get one cell selected, whereas when I click near the bottom of the cell, multiple rows are selected.

Re-opening the document I was working on seems to have returned Excel’s behavior to normal. I haven’t used Excel long enough to know if this will be a recurring issue. That being said, is this something others have run across (other than the previous poster I mentioned), and do people know what’s causing it and if there’s a fix available?

Thanks.

I have the same problem. However, I found that if you right-click, (menu pops up), but only the one cell is selected. Then, if you immediately, left-click the menu goes away and the cell remains the only one selected. So I’ve just got into the habit of doing right-click/left-click combos for cell selection whenever this problem happens.

Regards,

Gerry

["post-338","question","type-question","status-publish","hentry
["GET
