Make host file editable<br \/>\na. Find your hosts file (%SystemRoot%\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts)<br \/>\nb. Uncheck the Read Only attribute<\/p>\n<p>2. Edit your hosts file (in this case by using notepad):<br \/>\na. Open notepad (right click and run as administrator)<br \/>\nb. Open the hosts file with notepad (make sure to change the type search to All files and not .txt)<br \/>\nc. delete all lines referencing unwanted sites (just leave &#8220;127.0.0.1 localhost&#8221;)<br \/>\nd. save the file<\/p>\n<p>3. Make host file Read Only again<br \/>\na. Find your hosts file (%SystemRoot%\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts)<br \/>\nb. Check the Read Only attribute<\/p>\n<p>4. Flush the dns<br \/>\na. Run command prompt as administrator to avoid elevation error<br \/>\nb. at C:\\Windows\\System32&gt; type &#8220;ipconfig \/flushdns&#8221; (space between &#8220;ipconfig&#8221; and \/ sign<\/p>\n<p>5. Double check it worked<br \/>\na. type &#8220;ipconfig \/displaydns&#8221; (it should only show the localhost and no unwanted websites)<br \/>\nb. Close the command prompt<br \/>\nc.
