Only thing I’ve really tried to make work so far is a new HP Deskjet 1000 (cheapo one) which taught me that the driver for it had to be OS compatible (HP apparently has removed their available drivers for pre-XP OS’s)…and next a Canon PIXMA ip4200 printer (mine) where the Canon driver site shows it’s compatible with Win98 but doesn’t mention whether that includes 98SE or not (apparently it doesn’t as driver failed installation).

I’m also thinking the problem may relate to incompatibility of some sort between old USB 1.0 the PC and OS 2.0 design in the printer, but don’t know how to check that out from the available data.

Anyway, pulling my hair out and preparing to give it up, but this is ridiculous! Having good functional printers that can’t be mated with good functional (albeit blue haired) PCs/OSs! Any more suggestions anyone?

[69

post-1930","question","type-question","status-publish","hentry","question-category-windows-95
["GET
