{"id":181,"date":"2021-09-03T01:59:55","date_gmt":"2021-09-03T01:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lgildv5i97.onrocket.site\/answers\/hardware-high-pitch-whinenoise-emiiting-from-cpu-area-70554-html"},"modified":"2021-09-03T03:00:21","modified_gmt":"2021-09-03T03:00:21","slug":"hardware-high-pitch-whinenoise-emiiting-from-cpu-area-70554-html","status":"publish","type":"question","link":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/hardware\/high-pitch-whinenoise-emiiting-from-cpu-area\/70554.html","title":{"rendered":"High pitch whine\/noise emiiting from CPU area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi,<\/p>\n<p>I recently changed my motherboard because of a host of problems know that i changed it i am getting a high pitch whine emitting from my CPU area when the machine is under load booting from BIOS is fine but as soon as windows loads up it kicks off<\/p>\n<p>Momentarily it was much worse but after updating my BIOS and disabling CPU stream it has gradually reduced but still there<\/p>\n<p>I am running the following:<\/p>\n<p>AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+<br \/>\n2GB Corsair XMS2 and 2GB Samsung RAM<br \/>\nM4A78-HTPC Motherboard<br \/>\n500GB Samsung HD and 250 GB Seagate HD<\/p>\n<p>Also the following below will show why i have eliminated to around the CPU area<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tried 3 Different PSU&#8217;s namely antec and coolermaster<br \/>\n&#8211; Tried 2 set of RAM Sticks<br \/>\n&#8211; Disabled Hard Drives &#8211; Defragmented them<br \/>\n&#8211; Even took the CPU cooler off for a moment<br \/>\n&#8211; Booted PC up with minimal power input i.e. PSU, one HDD, and CPU Cooler<br \/>\n&#8211; Changed IDE cables<br \/>\n&#8211; Disabled every fan<br \/>\n&#8211; Took all the components apart within my case and laid them out separately and found that the noise was emitting from the CPU socket area<br \/>\n&#8211; Tried connecting my old MB with CPU connecting etc and there was no squeal<\/p>\n<p>It seems I might need to replace the mobo but after updating the BIOS it seems to have subsided so i am thinking maybe manually changing the voltage or something<\/p>\n<p>Thanks<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","template":"","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"iawp_total_views":31},"question-category":[46],"question_tags":[],"class_list":["post-181","question","type-question","status-publish","hentry","question-category-digitalphoto"],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question\/181","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/question"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=181"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=181"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"question-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question-category?post=181"},{"taxonomy":"question_tags","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question_tags?post=181"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
