Also, I can’t say how long it takes before it happens.

The laptop will be on for awhile, and at some point, the D: drive disappears from the My Computer window – in fact, the entire “devices with removable storage” part disappears, possibly since D: is the only thing in that category.

When I restart, D: is back.

I tried going into the folder options and unchecking the “Hide empty drives in the Computer folder”, but it still disappeared.

I can’t restore to before this happened, as it apparently has a thing against restore points as well.

I read that if I put a disk in the drive, D: should reappear, but it didn’t. I tried more than one disk, both CD and DVD, and it didn’t make a difference. After the restart, D: works fine again.

Does anyone have any hints, or should I just suck it up and deal? I’ll admit I freaked out the first time, but now that I know it comes back it’s annoying but not quite as bit a deal…I hope.

[42

post-15198","question","type-question","status-publish","hentry","question-category-windows-7
["GET
