In column F (lines 7 – 38) there are totals that apply to that particular line item that are numbers. These totals change with each instance of a particular category. Essentially what I’ve done is assign a number of attendees to a certain category of event.

EXAMPLE
Instance 1—–
Column C (Drop Down Selection): Event Type 1
Column F; Line 7: 42

Instance 2—-
Column C (Drop Down Selection): Event Type 1
Column F, Line 8: 66

** What I need is a formula that will sum the total in all of Column F of all instances of Event Type 1 when selected as the drop down item in Column C

There would be about 6 or 7 incidences per spreadsheet and I need a sum of the total numbers associated with each category. In the above example I would need a formula that added the totals in F7 and F8 when associated with the “Event Type 1” category only. I need this to apply to all of column F. The destination box for the sum would be F44.

I know this is a SUM or SUMIF function but I’m not sure how to input it into the formula bar. Can anyone help?
