{"id":15030,"date":"2021-12-17T14:46:11","date_gmt":"2021-12-17T14:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lgildv5i97.onrocket.site\/answers\/?post_type=question&#038;p=15030"},"modified":"2021-12-17T14:46:31","modified_gmt":"2021-12-17T14:46:31","slug":"solved-500-gb-western-digital-drive-gives-crc-error-uninitialized","status":"publish","type":"question","link":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/hardware\/500-gb-western-digital-drive-gives-crc-error-uninitialized\/91864.html","title":{"rendered":"Solved 500 GB Western Digital Drive Gives CRC Error, Uninitialized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To keep it short and simple, my 500 GB Western Digital drive gives me a CRC (Cyclic redundancy check) error whenever I try to initialize it in order to create a new partition in the disk manager.<\/p>\n<p>Since I am unable to initialize it, it&#8217;s not partitionned and therefore does not have a letter assigned to it (chkdsk is useless, then).<\/p>\n<p>However, I have scanned it with Hard Disk Sentinel, and it said that the hard drive&#8217;s health was 100% and that no errors were to be found.<\/p>\n<p>I do not care at all about the data that may be present on the disk (I got it from a friend in that state) so recovering or smashing the disk is irrelevant.<\/p>\n<p>I just want to be able to use it to store unimportant data that&#8217;s piling up on my computer but that I do not wish to delete.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks in advance!<\/p>\n<p>Edit : If any pictures are needed, I can take screenshots.
