I’m at my wit’s end! Just got a new router (Linksys 4500). Somehow I was able to set it up with my modem and desktop computer. And got 3 wireless laptops to connect to it. Phweww!!
\nSo now I’m trying to get the Xbox Live to connect to the new router (it worked fine before with our old router) and I just can’t do it. I have researched and spent over 4 hours (seriously!) trying to get this done… looking at Linksys and Xbox help pages, random google searches. My latest try and what I have my router currently set at is Port Triggering with the UPnP enabled. DMZ is disabled and NAT is enabled. I also have WMM Support disabled. (AFter reading an online tutorial — all the above is what I was advised to do.) I have tried the power cycle for modem, router and Xbox also. Someone… please help me!!!<\/p>\n
I did it!!! I reset the xbox to factory default and when i reentered the info it all connected!!! woo hoo!!!
\nI still have some remaining concerns, as I made a lot of changes to my router settings while following the different instructions to connect my Xbox. Can you please tell me if the following settings are safe\/secure to have on my router (or should I maybe repost this to the Networks forum??)
\n1. Wireless Mac Filter: Disabled
\n2. UPnP: Enabled
\n3. Filter Anonymous Internet Requests: Disabled
\n4. Filter Internet NAT Redirection for iPv4 Internet Only: Disabled
\n5. DMZ: Disabled
\n6. QoS – WMM Support: Disabled
