I’m not trying to mix different cards. I know the issues that can come out of that. What my question is I have 2 gigs (2 1gb) in my desktop now. And is not enough. A friend gave me a card to me (1 4gb). He told me when he gave it to me that it was a ddr3 and that made sense because when I took it home and tried to plug it in, it wouldn’t fit. But…

After doing a little research on the ram card, everywhere says its a ddr2. ?? As far as I could find out the notch is so you cant mix ddr, ddr2, ddr3 in a uncompilable MB. But is there ddr2 ram chips that are different than other ddr2 chips??

It is racking my brain and I cant stop wanting to know the answer.

I’m new to the site 🙂 Thanks for any help I can get.

Here are the specs of the card in question:

Samsung 4gb 2Rx4 PC2-5300-555-11-EO M395T5160QZ4-CE68 0841

If there is any other information that you need, let me know.
