They seem to get their wifi connection using a gateway and some company called Ovation Networks, which I never heard of until I started working here. Their wifi doesn’t work more often than it does. Another co-worker who is allegedly computer-smart has been contacting them about the issues, and the last time I guess they just told him to assign guests static IP addresses if they need wifi. This is not really reasonable in a hotel. One night, I was using the wifi just fine with a dynamic IP and it just quit working suddenly. DHCP was enabled. I just put in a static IP after not being able to connect with a dynamic one for almost two weeks, and it works brilliantly.<\/p>\n
Anybody have ideas on why we only can connect with a static IP and not dynamic, and how to fix it? The hotel managers are no help, and Ovation isn’t, either.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"iawp_total_views":13},"question-category":[49],"question_tags":[],"class_list":["post-13364","question","type-question","status-publish","hentry","question-category-networking"],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question\/13364","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/question"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=13364"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=13364"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"question-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question-category?post=13364"},{"taxonomy":"question_tags","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question_tags?post=13364"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
