I have used AVG have to scan and heal as many as possible. There is just one trojan remaining – AVG says it’s a downloader generic and gave me the file path (which I cannot access) stating the trojan is in my C:

Advise was to reformat the drive – (I have an Eee PC but now have an external CD/DVD drive to re-install the start up disk)
I have right clicked the start menu, explore, right click on the C:, checked the quick format box, error messagge came up and clicked ok. Error message says windows was unable to complete the format.
Is this because of the Trojan?
Can you please advise the best way to format the C: on windows xp home edition?
I did pay someone to remove trojans, but he didn’t do the job properly and refused to give any support – so I’m feeling ripped off and still unable to use my computer.. 🙁

Also can anyone explain how hotmail can still send nasty emails when my computer is not connected to internet and not in use since feb this year?
Thank you for your help!
