1. Try “Quick Solution Hint #1”, ie, Joe Nord’s sfwjpg, if you are *not* constrained to using only Windows Store apps.
2. Else, try “Quick Solution HInt #2”, ie, XnViewMP or XnView. I’m not sure if it is available as a Windows Store app.
3. Else, if your diskette has .sfw images *and* if they are all SFW94A format [ie, first 6 bytes of file data says “SFW94A”] **and NOT** SFW93A format [ie, first 6 bytes of file data says “SFW93A”], then you can use the Irfanview app which *is* available via Windows Store.
4. Else, pick one of the other Quick solution Hints shown at the .sfw conversion portal.

I’m sorry to say it seems like these files got either corrupted during the backup operation (it does happen) or… there has been cases (I experienced it twice before realizing what was going on) when nested groups of objects left in the Desktop area (outside the boundaries of a page) cause a file to become corrupted at save. It’s an issue that was first identified in v.10 and to date I don’t know if it’s been resolved. By nested groups I mean several groups of objects grouped together into one big “group of groups”. I dont exactyly what features Corel Draw 7 has. If it has save as CMX (corel exchange format) it would be more compatible than CDR format. Consider that some layout may lost. But if you insist want keep the CDR format, try open using newer version, I.E. v. 8, 9 or 10 before opening directly from version 12. These “pictures of text” can be inserted into Word but you will not be able to edit the text from there. This is the job of an OCR program, which converts pictured text into real characters in Word or similar.
The only other way is to first edit these pictures of text using Paint but it is a fiddling process. They could then be inserted into Word as edited pictures of text.
EDIT: I found this. You upload your text images using the Browse button and it coverts them. Presumably you can then copy/paste the text into Word: http://www.free-ocr.com/ OCR is never perfect so it might get the odd thing wrong.
