Btw.: In config.sys, the line DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana is, where the dos driver for CD-ROM is loaded and it gets the device name banana, which is used later in autoexec.bat for the MSCDEX command.
In autoexec.bat, MSCDEX.EXE /D:banana /L:R does the following: MSCDEX assignes a drive letter to the device name banana, in this case drive letter R:
That’s why I said, you should be able to access the files on drive R:
Give it a try.

When the printer model shows up in Printers and Faxes on the computer(s) it is not directly connected to , if it is the only printer listed, the correct listing will be the default printer – it will have a checkmark in a circle beside it.
If there is more than one printer model listed, or more than one listing for the same printer model, if the wrong listing is the default one, if you want the computer(s) the printer is not directly connected to, to be able to print from the printer, you need to RIGHT click on the correct printer model that does NOT have a checkmark in a circle beside it,. and choose Set as Default Printer.
Windows retains the printers listed in Printers and Faxes, even if the listing is no longer valid. If there is more than one printer model listed, or more than one listing for the same printer model, some of the listings may not be valid. When you RIGHT click on the listing – Properties – Print test page – if the printer does not print, it’s not a valid listing, or the printer is not presently connected such that the computer can detect it (e.g. the printer is directly connected to another computer in a local network but the computer it is connected to is not running). You can delete the invalid printer listings individually, or if the printer IS Plug-n-Play detectable, you can delete all the printers listed, or all the printers listed you’re not sure about, Restart Windows, then, eventually in the case of a printer not directly connected to the computer, only the valid listings will appear in Printers and Faxes.
