  • 5

Hi i want to connect my desktop pc upstairs to my tv downstairs so i can play games watch films ect downstairs without the noise of the fans and without a bulky tower in the living room

Problems is the desktop pc is windows 7 and about 4 years old so it doesnt support miracast and is not windows 8 either

I do not want to spend good money replacing a pc and i do not want windows 8 either when windows 7 apart from this is perfect for me

  1. The TV would have to have built in wifi or Ethernet port. You can not use a wifi dongle because you have to load software to run it. You can’t do that on a TV.
Bluetooth mice and keyboards don’t have unlimited range. The signal may not go through the ceiling.

Is your TV a smart TV as in it has wifi or Ethernet port?

  2. I don’t have a tv yet or broadband, sorry I know I wrote my tv in the original question but I meant for when I get one, I just threw the question out so I know what items or features I need when the time comes so I don’t waste money.

just a quick search on youtube I have now found this…

it looks promising but 1 thing that wasn’t mentioned was from pc to tv, I am assuming though that the wifi boxes are just a link between each hdmi port and all I would need is a hdmi card for the pc and I can then have the tv as a monitor, and for television programs I can just sign upto internet subscriptions and negate the need for a set top box 🙂
