having an issue with sending a fax on one fax machine and the other fax machine picking it up as opposed to it going out to the intended recipient…is there a remedy for that or is it dependent upon the type/brand of fax machine
PC’s do not enter into the equation. There are simply two fax machines using the ‘same’ phone line. Not concerned with receiving, since ring options can be changed. The problem is when a fax is sent from one of the machines, the other fax machine is intercepting that fax message. Any ideas.
I have the same problem. With both faxes sharing the same phone line they are then tethered together. When fax one sends, fax two sees the electronic traffic as it is on the same line. Fax two will immediately see the ringing tones from the call and will answer after the number of rings it is set for have completed. So when you place a call from fax one if the remote point you are calling doesn’t answer fax one before fax two answers then fax two will receive the fax. If the remote point fax and internal fax two are both set to answer after four rings, which is the default for many faxes, then it’s a crap shoot as to whether the internal or remote fax will answer the call. With circuit delay I’d say odds are the internal fax will answer the call.
More detail. Because the two faxes are tethered together, so to speak, fax two sees the electronic traffic from fax one as I mentioned earlier. On Brother MFC machines there is a feature called Easy Receive. This feature apparently interprets the traffic and if it determines the traffic is coming from a fax it immediately goes into receive mode as I understand it. This feature needs to be turned OFF if you have two faxes sharing the same line.
