The key to access the boot menu for that model should be F12, pressed when the gateway/acer logo or posting screen is showing. Is that what you’re asking? Your thread title doesn’t match your description. You can’t boot up a new hard drive until it’s got windows installed on it but you should be able to put a USB device as the first boot device and then boot from it–assuming it’s got bootable media in it.
