I have a pc hp pavilion t760 (win XP) and the power supply is blinking with tickin sound. Computer will not start, not even the fans.
I have followed what hp says on their website. I have disconnected all power cable connectors from their connectors on the motherboard and from the back of internal devices.
Then I connected the 24 pin cable to the motherboard and the power supply started blinking/flashing.
which component do i replace psu, mother board…
need some help
After searching for hours & trying numerous different fixes…..
this worked like a charm for me:
1. Unplug everything from the computer.
2. Make sure to leave the power cord plugged into the wall and computer.
3.Using a hairdryer, blow heat on the flashing green light for two to three minutes. The flashing green light should turn to a steady green.
4. Turn on computer.
Good luck & i hope this works for you! Let me know if this works!
Amazing!! I will have to admit, I was a little skeptical about the whole hair dryer thing. I no longer have any of those doubts. After about three minutes the green light went solid. After a couple minutes (of disbelief) I turned on the computer and whataya know, the computer works great, just as before.
I was pondering what exactly could make this work. Is the green light mechanism some kind of safety protocol that overrides the power supply? This absolutely blows my mind. Assuming this is only a temporary fix I will transfer all my files onto my new external hard drive (that I hadn’t already transferred), that way when or if the computer craps out I will not be in the same predicament. Thanks for your the post Tami80
Great imagination I must say! It will be nicer when this full moon passes 😉
A blinking power light and no life on a PC means the power supply is failing, I replaced a few on Dell desktops with that problem.
It really has nothing to do with unplugging and reseating cables etc…when PSU’s go bad there is no warning.
Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
