I have a new HP 15 laptop with Windows 8.1 (Which sucks!) and my installed keyboard is not operating correctly. Most of the time, when typing, it “skips” “does not type letter pressed” seems at times to work when keys are pressed HARD and DIRECT which is driving me crazy! I thought if I could find out the brand name of the keyboard there may be a driver update available. I have read in researching the issue that apparently this is a known problem with this laptop by the manufacture HP.

But before you part with it either for full replacement or servicing (under warranty or not); copy all your personal files to external media (typically DVD) – first. Check the copies are OK too on another working system if possible (to be sure all your personal files are safe off the faulty laptop’s drive…
Sadly more than few have lost everything when sending in kit for servicing… Not all service/support types make copies of the drive/data before they start “phyxing” things… And it’s a reasonably safe bet that replacement laptop would not likely have all your files neatly copied over onto it…
