i have opened and saved one excel file. but when i am looking for the original file i could not find it, instead i could see .tmp files. please help me to restore my original .xls file

If you have opened and re-saved it then you have overwritten the original file. You can sometimes get away with renaming the .tmp file as .xls if you know roughly when you openeed/saved it, but you may just end up with a load of rubbish. Another thing to try is right-click the file and choose ‘previous versions’ – it sometimes brings up what you want.
