I just put together my new build, and the Asus boarding monitoring software that came with it is showing that my Vcore voltage is only 1.03V on my AMD 965BE Quad. This seems really low to me. I was under the impression that the stock core voltage is supposed to run at about 1.4V.
Can this low of a voltage be a bad thing? I know when some people overclock and ramp the voltage up too high, it can shorten the life of the processor, but what is it dangerous for the voltage to be this low? And what might be the cause of this low vcore voltage?
Don’t trust software, what does it say in the BIOS?
125w vcore 0.850 – 1.4
140w vcore 0.850 – 1.425.
In your case 1.03v is fine. Did u check cpu speed?
Yes, I figured it out. Apparently there is a “Cool & Quiet” feature on my motherboard that runs the processor at a much lower voltage/speed when it is not in use. As soon as I put a load on it, it jumped to the 1.4V range it should be.
