when permanently deleting emails from deleted file in Outlook Express, sound like my modem is beeping when I OK the delete. I had unplugged my scanner and netgear cable stuff but did not cure the beeping. Also, when Windows XP starts up, I have no musical notes as I did for many years. Thank you.

u said its an old computer which probably does not have sound drivers installed, and the beeping u are having are probably the windows sounds being displayed when the computer messages u, u need ur sound drivers
