Boot Error HardWare Initiate Fail Do I Have Reason To Worry?

  • 9

This problem occurred for the first time today. Switching on the following appears on-screen: “Hardware initiate failed! Please check device!… The BIOS does not be installed! Press (g) to continue!” Only after 3 restarts did the machine opened successfully. Do I need to be worried and if so what can I do to rectify the problem. Thanks.

  1. Sounds like a controller board on the hard drive may be failing. The error indicates a hard ware malfunction, usually it is the hard drive that fails to initialize. I would download seatools for dos, make a bootable cd. Insert the cd you made and have the computer first boot off the cd….it should load up seatools from the cd. Perform the short generic test if it passes, do a long generic test. If both pass perhaps it is another hardware device having issues.
