Problem With HP Desktop Power Button

my desktop wont turn on at all i click on the power botton and it wont turn on. i even replace the power supply box and nothing. can anyone help me to find the problem

      Check the power button – trace the leads to the motherboard,
      remove the connector and short the 2 pins together – if the pc
      starts then you need to replace the switch.
