For starters, if you want to run Zorin OS, get the latest release (12.2). Zorin 9 is from several years ago & is no longer supported. I suggest Zorin Lite & you will need 32-bit version due to the Pentium M. Just set “pay what you want” to 0.
Once you have the ISO, you will need to burn it to a DVD using software such as ImgBurn (or similiar) or create a bootable USB flash drive. Once you’re done that, just boot off the disc & try Zorin without installing it. It won’t perform as well as a full-blown installation but you’ll be able to get feel for it.
Mint 18.2 Xfce 32-bit is another Linux version you might wanna consider. Here’s what the notes say about Pentium M processors:
“Booting with non-PAE CPUs
To boot Linux Mint on CPUs which do not officially support PAE (Pentium M processors for instance), please use the “Start Linux Mint with PAE forced” option from the boot menu.”
