I am running OS X 10.5.8 Safari won’t open. The icon only bounces in the dock when tried. Says Application not responding. Been like this for about 3 days. I’ve tried to remove & reinstall safari, to no avail. Had to resort to Firefox. YIKES ….. Help !!!

  1. You have a corrupt

    com.apple.systempreferences.plist

    file,

On the desktop click HELP up at the top of the screen. Type in Library. In the results below, click Library/preferences. Scroll down until you see the file com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Click on it and drag it into the trash can, or right click it and choose move to trash.

When you restart the computer it will be recreated. You should then be able to use it again.

Reboot and set your System preferences again.

It’s not hard to do no matter what age. Go for it.
