my computer is toshiba satelite C855-S5348 there’s password on my hard disk which i don’t remember so it cannot boot from dos mode and it’s now becoming white elephant

  1. The BIOS uses an included set of DOS codes for all BIOS functions and displays. Once it hands control to Windows, DOS is no longer used. The password screens for both BIOS access and Hard drive access are functions of the BIOS. To remove or bypass these passwords, the machine needs to be taken to the manufacturer, where they are able to access the protected non-volatile chip on which passwords are stored. I’ve seen people try to gain access to this location, ending with disaster. Until these security features were made available, portable computers were an easy target for thieves. Now, they are of no value, because they are too difficult to circumvent the security. In other words, stolen laptops are just junk.
