Can’t Get Dell Factory Restore To Work On Inspiron One

  • 14

Have Dell Inspiron One w/ Windows 7. Can’t get Dell Factory Restore to work. Windows won’t come on and all I get are System Recovery Options. This occurred after a reboot when my daughter tried to rid the computer of a re-direct Google virus with something called “Hitman Pro”.. Please help. She needs this for school which starts on Monday and can’t afford a tech. Whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated.

  1. I know I don’t need to butt into this since Jennifer is good.

    I will anyway.

What it is saying is that your current install seems to be too bad to return to OEM state.

How does the owners manual suggest you recover it to OEM or as bought state? Sometimes they call it system restore or recovery.

Some systems need you to create new disks before the disaster happens. Some even expect you to purchase the disks from the OEM. Dell has in the past offered a way on their systems to recover it. Some Dell systems I believe need you to press the F8 key sort of quickly at the start of boot. Too late and you get the Microsoft version of F8. This is one version but read the owners manual (online) to see. http://en.kioskea.net/faq/7319-dell…

When you get it working again be sure to apply the latest Microsoft updates and if not already installed get a good security suite. At least get Microsoft’s security essentials or another complete suite.

    You are not lost yet.
