Solved Guide To Setting The Memory Cache In Glary Utilities

  • 1

This is a computing aspect I have never completely understood. I use Glary Utilities on a regular basis and it is extremely good in all respects. I have never used the “Memory” tool and I did so without making any reminder notes of the settings I think I may have done some damage because for no reason the PC will hang without warning and I need to restart. I notice too that the PC is sometimes “sluggish” and programme loading can be slow.

None of this may be related to my tinkering and it may be a coincidence and the problems lie elsewhere.

My processor is:AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core
Memory: 8173
OS: Windows 7 Home 64

It’s a fairly old machine now and maybe it’s just reached end of days however any help and suggestions will be much appreciated.

  1. IMO, a system with an AMD FX CPU, 8GB RAM, a GTX 560 SE, & Win7 x64 is not “old”. Aging maybe, but not old.

Derek pretty much covered the slowness possibilities – infection, too many startup apps, overheating, etc. I haven’t used Glary in years. I dumped it for CCleaner-Slim. If I’m not mistaken, the memory optimizer changes the virtual memory/page file settings. The general recommendation is to let Windows manage it, but there are plenty of tweaking tutorials out there.
