I am trying to get my emachines desktop computer working for my grandson. I reformatted the harddrive before putting it away until I wanted to give it to someone. I turned it on but nothing happened. I put the harddrive from my grandson’s old computer and there were 4 beeps – if I got the correct information, that is the memory. Yes? I took out one of the Ram and started it and there was not beep and it was starting up. I decided to try other memory I have and now get 3 beeps. What is that error?
I think his harddrive has Vista loaded on it.
As for the beeps, it would help if you’d supply the model/model number of the eMachines PC you’re working with. Bad RAM, poorly seated RAM, or a poorly seated graphics card are common causes of beeping. And if the beeps are 3 long rather than 3 short, make sure the keyboard is plugged in securely.
