My Laptop Screen Has Turned Half Black; From The Left Side.

I turned out my laptop to find it’s screen half white (from the left side ). I poked th3 screen a bit and now it’s become black and the area the colour covers has also increased. Can someone please help me out here ?

      Try an external monitor to determine if the issue is the laptop screen or the graphics chip. If the external monitor does NOT display correctly the problem is internal and can’t be repaired. If it is the laptop screen you can replace it.

      It appears that laptop is at least 5 or 6 years old. Probably not worth the cost of screen replacement.

      Have you tried shutting down completely and restarting?
