  1. A little bit more information would be helpful.
    If adding as a second hard drive for programs or storage, go to disk manager, if it shows up there, simply create partition(s) and format.
    If using for the primary hard drive, put in Windows 7 install disk, if it is recognized, choose Custom>Partition/Format and proceed.
    If it is not recognized, go into BIOS and make sure it is recognized there and make the appropriate adjustments and begin again.
    (you did not mention RAID so I will leave it out)

    That is the most I can supply without more information. Most people these days are using SATA drives for many reasons and most of my experience is with PATA and SATA drives, but much is similar. If you need more help supply all details and there will be someone who can help.
