Comment: I can view files and folder from my other PC, I can even go into the default "sharedDocs" folder but I cant go into any of the other folders that I have shared on that computer. File sharing is on (hand underneath folder), firewalls are even turned off, permissions are set to anyone. Whats the deal?

Reply: (edit)What happens when you try and access the shares? What are the NTFS permissions as well as the Shared ones? I assume you mean "Everyone" and not "anyone." :) Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)Access denied error is what I get. Not sure where you view the NTFS permissions but under properties, security, I have the files able to be read, edit, etc. by everyone (full access, not anyone thanks for the corection).

Reply: (edit)Also, under sharing tab, permissions, I have it set to everyone. I moved the folder under the shareddocs. This was the folder that I was not having trouble with. Now some of the files/folders I can access and some of them I cant. Very strange. I tried resetting the settings, un-sharing the sharedDocs folder and then re-sharing it, did not do anything.

Reply: (edit)they both are xp SP2, XP automatically setup the network, do I have uninstall the current setup then go through the wizard? Or should I just run the wizard. Where do you check/uncheck simple file sharing? Its almost like the permissions are sticking and not changing when I change them, thats all that I can come up with.
