I recently purchased a nice 24" widescreen monitor. I installed in and it was working fine. I then went to install the rest of the software with the monitor. Once I did that and restarted the PC, i constantly got an error message stating the software had to be re-installed. I re-installed it, and still had the same problem. I went to uninstall it and did so successfully. The problem that I had was once it uninstalled, it killed my video card driver. When my PC rebooted, it was running the generic windows video driver. I went to re-installe the video drivers and they would install, but when I restarted windows, it would default to the windows driver instead of the one for my video card. I would not allow me to change settings for the display adapter, it would only use the generic windows driver. I went to disable the windows driver hoping it would pick up the proper video driver when it rebooted. The problem I have now is that the PC boots and the Windows XP logo screen appears, but after that my screen goes blank. The PC is actually on, because I can log into it even though I cannot see the screen and get the XP welcome sound. I have tried to boot the system in VGA mode and in safe mode. When I boot the system in VGA mode, I get the same blank screen. When I boot in Safe Mode, it hangs on the AGP4400.sys file and does not boot.

Does anyone know how to get around this without having to re-install XP? I cannot use the system recovery because it claims the password is invalid. There was never a master password entered, so I do not know what the issue is with that, but for now, I cannot use my PC and I do not want to re-install XP unless it is the last resort.

Try in safe mode. Press F8 at boot. Use either driver roll back or system restore or uninstall the apps.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

I have tried driver rollback and uninstalled the apps involved, it did not work. It is almost impossible to try anything else, because I cannot see what I am doing on screen.

use System restore to go way back to before you installed the junk monitor software and then don't do it again.

monitors you just plug em in, set your res, and be done with it.

Medion MIM 2080
Toshiba T2130CT
Macintosh Performa 450

All working wonderfully.
