Comment: Hi! I'm having trouble with a laptop. It crashes every now and then, and I can't find out why... It could crash with only firefox running, and then not restart within the 5 next minutes. Sometimes it just turns itself off, sometimes I get a blue screen. I suspect something like a memory problem. But sometimes the laptop just runs fine. What would you suggest? A memory check? Then how would I do that? I would attach a hijackthis report, but computing.net says I shouldn't if not asked to do so :) Thanks! /DT

Reply: (edit)http://www.memtest.org/ scroll down to the prebuilt versions to download either the ISO file for CD or the zip file for a floppy or the zip file for a flashdrive(USB) In The Matters Of Style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, Stand Like A Rock "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid."

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the tips so far! I'm not sure what you mean with the event viewer, bscott. I'll try to find out. I'll do a memory check tonight. When it comes to overheating, I thought of that, but this can happen even one minute after start up. But I think I'm onto something else now. The last blue screen I got complained about DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and prisma00.sys. While I'm not sure what IRQL is, I think prisma00.sys has to do with the wlan drivers. I'll try that to and come back here. Thanks again!
