With my HP pavilion 563w, which has Windows XP, when I attach .dst files, the recipient receives them as a text file but they are not text files. They are program files (for an embroidery machine) for embroidery designs. I have no problem sending the files on my old computer, which has Windows 98. I have compared my Internet Explorer settings on the two and they are the same so I assume the problem is related to Windows XP. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

The only thing I can think of is this....

If you are using OE and HTML then...

OE\Tools\Optione - Send Tab - Mails Sending Format - HTML Settings - 'Send Pictures with Message'

This assumes your.dst File in an Image File?

It also assumes your Recipient has the same embroidery Program to Open the File ?

Someone else may know more about this ?

Try this. If your receipient is using OE then have them go to Tools>Options>Security and uncheck the box that says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus". This is all part of the security that Microsoft has built in to the program. If this option is checked then the attachment is hidden.

Let us know if this solves your problem.

Thanks Teri but the problem is not with the recipient. It is on my end. I know this because when I send the file to myself using my new computer, it gets converted to a text file. FYI, I use Yahoo e-mail and I do not use OE. It is not a problem with Yahoo because when I send the file from Yahoo using my old computer, it works fine.
