Subject: Can't boot from floppyOS: WinXP ProCPU/Ram: AMD 1,6 Ghz/256 Mb |
Comment: I recently upgraded my to an AMD 1,6 Ghz. I connected all the devices correctly but there's one problem. The computer won't boot from floppy. My boot sequence is: 1. legacy floppy 2. cd-rom 3. ide-hdd I already tried 2 different floppy drives and 2 different cables and one of the cables came with the motherboard. The computer does recognize the drive and the drive LED stays on, but i don't hear the "reading/writing" noise from the floppy. Also, there is no OS installed on the HD. Can anybody help me out here?

Reply: (edit)Have you checked the cable has been plugged in the right way round, both at mobo and drive? it's a simple mistake. Failing that I'd say the floppy controller on the mobo is duff.

Reply: (edit)Hooner, Yes the "red line-side" on motherboard is in pin 1 and isn't on the drive, well there's just one way to connect it.

Reply: (edit)When the floppy LED stays on there is a 99% chance that the floppy cable is backword. Flip it around just to see what happens.
