I made a windows me bootdisk from bootdisk.com, and was wondering how I can start my computer with it. I want to run scandisk in dos off the bootdisk. How do I do this? I placed the floppy disk in the drive attempted to restart my computer, and I get an invalid system disk message. Please help because I cannot seem to run scandisk normally or in safe mode.

If I remember correctly....
When you download the file from bootdisk.com it is compressed (zipped). You have to open the file and a message shows stating 'put a formatted disc into the floppy drive' or something like that. The file is opened and the files are then copied to the floppy disc.
An easy way to tell is browse the floppy and if you see one file you have done it incorrectly. If you see 12 or more files it may be you have a faulty floppy drive.
You can make a start up disc off of your own machine... go to START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL - ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS - START UP DISC -CREATE START UP DISC, you also need a formatted blank floppy disk.

It is self extracting and that may be the problem, but also make sure your BIOS is set to boot from floppy as 1st option.
