I have Windows ME and Microsoft Outlook 2000 SR-1. Once I bring Outlook up, it will not shutdown without me opening task manager and saying endtask. I've looked for critical updates, etc. Can anyone help/explain this to me, please???

1. When did this start?
2. Is your system in any other way unstable?
3. Do you have antivirus software protecting your email? If yes... what kind?
4. Is outlook connected via an exchange server? Or do you use this at home?

I have the same problem. In some cases I have multiple instances of outlook running and don't even know it until I open the task manager.
In My Situation
1) Unknown. But Ive noticed the problem for about 2 MOs
2) SOmetimes it won't shutdown
3)Not when the problem was noticed but I do now.
4) No Exchange server.

Someone at work had this problem; culprit was a COM Add-in installed by ICQ v2001b. when I removed the add-in as per instructions in the MS kb article below, Outlook 2000 closed correctly.
