Comment: Can anyone tell me how to get rid of a problem I'm having with Win 98 SE. When I go to shutdown a dialogue box appears and says that there's a program not responsing. There is no name for the program at the top of the box. I've tried the shutdown patch from Microsoft and that only works some of the time. Can anyone suggest anything?

Reply: (edit)Run WINTOP or TaskManager (ctrl+alt+del) & identify applications running. End task one and shutdown the pc (process of elimination to find the offending application). Sometimes you may have a duplicate running application which is confusing the shutdown.
