Comment:

I have a Sparc Ultra10 creator 3D. It works with the original hard drive and CD-ROM drive. I upgraded with original Solaris 8 install package without problems.

I am trying to replace the Sun OEM 9 GByte hard drive with a 160 GByte Maxtor 6Y160P0. I get the:
Bad magic number in disk label
Can't open disk label package
when I start up.

Using probe-IDE I get:

Device 0 ( Primary Master )
ATA Model: Maxtor 6Y160P0
Device 1 ( Primary Slave )
Not Present
Device 2 ( Secondary Master )
Removable ATAPI Model: CRD-8322B
Device 3 ( Secondary Slave )
Not Present

The system seems to recognize the drive, but I do not know how to get it to allow me to format so I can use it to boot from.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S.
The system came with 3 additional PCI graphics adapters (Tech-Source Raptor GFX) I am giving them away to the first three who ask. You pay shipping.
