Subject: Solaris 8 and mail server
Comment:

H guys,

I set up Intel Solaris 8 with all defaults (6 CDs - media kit and bonus CDs bought from Sun) and now I want to send email to other user on the same machine. Could someone please show me how and what I have to do to make mail server working. I must say this machine can talk to other windows 9x machine and Linux machine by Telnet and FTP.

Please help me what I need to do to make email working. Can I send mail to other user on the same machine?

Many many thanks.

Chis.

Hi Chis
if u want to send out side mail like Hotmail.com and yahoo.com that time u need to configure ur PC as a RELAY Agent through sendmail configuration for that u can refere to solaris manual.
and for the Internal Mails like u want to connect to Linux pc & NT pc that time u don't need to configure any thing u can telnet as well FTP also but comment the root user in
#vi /etc/ftpusers file.
and
#vi /etc/default/login
comment out the console entry in this file

Bye
Anil
