Does anyone know how to shutdown solaris 8 machine(SPARC IV) using only keyboard keypress?
For example, system is locked but pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL(for instance) force system to shutdown gracefully, i.e. without logon and knowning root password.

my system is:
root@prime# uname -a
SunOS prime 5.8 Generic_108528-27 sun4us sparc FJSV,GPUZC-M

Are you looking for the shutdown command ?
if yes it is shutdown.
What do you mean by keyboard keypress?

Hi
to shutdown use the following:
- init 0 (system went down and stay at prompt)
- init 6 (reboot the system)
- init 5 (powerdown)
or
shutdown -t time -r see man shutdown for detail
or
/etc/halt

Sorry for my poor English...
We on the work have the person on duty, who must turn off machine... Root password I cannot give to him... Linux on x86 it is turned off with the aid of CTRL+ALT+DEL, it would be desirable this to make on SUN SPARC

As Solaris is a real OS it does not answer to
CTRL-ALT-DEL... ;-)

and read about Role Based Access Control (RBAC)
and learn about setting up a Shutdown Role.
