Comment:

I just installed gcc on my solaris 8 os. When I try to compile , the computer does not recognize the where it is installed. It is at /usr/sfw/bin/sparc-sun-solaris2.8-gcc.
Can someone tell me how I can set the path so that it is recognized? Please keep in mind that I am new to the solaris environment.Thanks!

hai..

u have to set the path in the .profile file if u r using sh and ksh,if u r using csh u should set the the path in .login or .cshrc,if u want to set the path for system wide u have to set in /etc/profile for sh shell and /etc/.login for csh.

PATH=$PATH:/remaning path..
$PATH--will copy the default path.

if ur using c shell use set ,if ksh,sh u use should export the path after u have set..

bye
