Can anyone tell me what I should do to get NetScape to work. As you can see I have tried adding many ip's without luck.

The NetGear router has ip 198.162.0.1
The Sun is running Solaris 9 and its ip is 198.162.0.7

Netscape will connect to the router and cable modem, but won't connect to web sites.

I can telnet, ftp etc with no problems.

Help!

Have you tried the following?

http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/802-5755/6i9g8un6i?a=view

Enabling a Machine to Use DNS...

Log in as superuser.

Open the /etc/nsswitch.conf file.

Specify DNS as a source of hosts information.

Save the file and reboot the workstation.

----------

The machine must have a properly configured /etc/resolv.conf file and it looks like you have that. I'm not sure why you have your domain commented out, but we will go on.

Log in as superuser.

Open the /etc/nsswitch.conf file.

Specify DNS as a source of hosts information.

DNS can be the only source or an additional source for the hosts information. Locate the hosts line and insert DNS after the default files parameter. This tells the machine to first resolve names based on the /etc/hosts static definitions, if it doesn't find a name there, try DNS. It will use the DNS servers defined in your resolv.conf.

/etc/nsswitch.conf
...
...
hosts: files dns
...
...
