by the way you posed the question, i assume you are installing sol8 for Intel...

i can speak more so for Sparc......

simple...put in the install cd, power up the machine and do a "stop a" and then type in "boot cdrom"

and i believe the Intel is some what similar, basically Solaris will walk you through the process of getting it set up.

also, do you have a good understanding of partitions and files sytems? have you ever used any form of Unix, have you every used Solaris before, your posting didnt give much of a background of it...

good luck !!

Hi

I also installed Solaris 8 Intel version on my PC at home. It is so simple.

Just put the CD and switch on the system. The system will detect the CD and it will start the process. It will ask you some of the basic question like mounting, printer connection and networking. There is also a help menu that is available during the installation process and if you have any doubts just go through it. I did not have any mounting stuff, nor printers not network. It is simple to do it and I installed it for the first time and it is working fine.

Good Luck
