i facing a problem while istallig dns on solaris 8 , i getting an error
checking for ar.........no
configure error
ar program not found .please fix your path to include the directory in which ar resides,or set AR in the environment with full path to ar

my question is where do i make entry of ar
i mean where should i define the path for ar

i will be thankful if anybuddy help me .

'ar' resides in '/usr/ccs/bin/ar'..
add 'PATH=$PATH:/usr/ccs/bin:...'
to
.profile/.login/.cshrc/.bashrc....respective to which is your shell? % echo $0

after that source it:
% source .bashrc

Also you can make it global, by making an entry in '/etc/profile'

BACKUP THINGS BEFORE YOU LOOSE ANY ENV...
